Pepsodent with Lucy Arnaz
Thanks, Marge. You've done it again...
Lucy Arnaz, daughter of Lucy and Desi, taking a break from Here's Lucy to do a sponsor commercial.
Arnaz, like everybody else on the later Lucy shows, tended to be uncomfortably loud...but, nonetheless, was still quite the looker.

Colgate Toothpaste (Dabney Coleman, 1961)
More future sea captains...and their families...
Here he is again, this time with a different wife. It seems Dabney was in a lot of commercials in the 1960s.

Dippity-Do (1968)
Nothing holdsl like Dippity-Do!
Very difficult to find commercial; especially one that has good audio. At one time, this ad and other versions were seen all the time. Then, Dippity-Do disappeared from the airwaves...and the stores.
A product by the same name is available through Amazon, but it's doubtful that it is the original product from the '60s.

I adore going steady, but...
Going steady with snooty little her (for 6 weeks!), making the team, and getting rid of his dandruff, too! Gosh, guys in the '60s were so...empty-headed (you thought I was gonna say cool, didn't you).

Inger Stevens, 1934 - 1970
The Original Blonde, for Lady Clairol.
Beautiful, dimpled Inger Stevens, whose rising star ended in suicide (overdose). She, along with William Windom, starred in the short-lived series, The Farmer's Daughter.

Dana Plato, 1964 - 1999
For Noxema.
A troubled child actor who went on to become just another casualty of Hollywood excess...and drugs. One of three child stars on Diff'rent Strokes, all of whom experienced troubled lives in later years.

Wildroot
...he uses a whistle, a wink, and Wildroot...
This is so cornball '60s. Men were nothing but wolves going after innocent, highly impressionable, sweet young thangs.

Ben-Gay
Radiant Action Ben-Gay...
I bet a million dollars they thought we wouldn't know how to pronounce, Bengué, so they spelled it, Ben-Gay.
Anyway, here's a 1963 ad, complete with that atomic modern thing those early '60s people liked so much.

Helene Curtis' spray net (1959)
Here's rhe picture on hair sprays...
Very dated commercial showing the joy of naturally curly hair, including the ever-comical woman with her hair being "set".
You don't often see special effects in vintage ads, but this one employed quite a few.

Crest Test (1962)
Who comes home this happy about a test?
Little Jane Fuller just can't contain her excitement over getting 21 percent fewer cavities in her scientific "test".
I think that after three years, I'd like a grade a lot higher than 21 percent.

There's a new Ipana in a new tube, in a new box!
The beatnik beat, talking to the music...this was all part of the "wacky" early '60s. Neat ad.

Clairol Blondes Have More Fun
Is it true blondes have more fun?
This could very well be the catalyst and origin of blonde jokes. Mid-60s, British pop music invasion, and blondes everywhere. The jingle has been forgotten, but it was very famous at the time.

Kinda young, kinda now, Charlie...
Harder to find than a hen's tooth, here is Bobby Short and Shelley Hack for Revlon's Charlie perfume.

Ipana-Plus Dentifrice
The new squeeze-bottle dentifrice.
This starts out like we're counting sheep...for Sominex. Even the voiceover guy tries to lull you to sleep.
Then everything brightens up (get it?)...except for little Timmy. He seems limp-wristed when he shakes that bottle thing. Hmmm...did he like to play house, too?
